This is a video response to NappyNFree’s video at www.youtube.com UPDATE: I’ve been trying different methods, different products, short of standing on my head. I have used ayuverdic shampoo bars, ayuverdic powders (kalpi tone, henna, etc.), oils (olive, sweet almond, vatika — my absolute favorite, coconut), shea butter, coconut cream relaxer, etc. Last week (about April 6, 2012) I started using the Wild Growth Oil. I like the way it feels on my scalp, and the way my hair feels to the touch. I like the scent (some folks don’t). To me it smells like Bay Rum — Florida Water. I will continue to use these products during my hair journey, and will post updates. Just a quick (Do It Yourself) guide for first time hair dyers =) I had dyed my hair red/maroon about a month ago. It turned brown since then =[ (Even though I had used colour protecting shampoo and conditioners). I had it done professionally, but I contacted the stylist and asked her what she used for my hair. This is what she had told me: REVLON professional hairdye – - 4.20 Med Burgandy Brown 2 tubes 5.64 Light?? Red Copper Brown (half tube or even quarter tube!) + 20 vol developer lotion I had very long thick hair though (extensions), but if you have medium/short hair and it’s not too thick, go with 1 tube of 4.20 and verrryy little, 1/6 or 1/8, of the 5.64. My .02 on the chinstrap stubble beard epidemic that’s sweeping New York. Meaning NO OFFENSE here so if you don’t like what I’m saying, you don’t have to rip me to shreds. Just stop watching. From my experience, most guys (myself included) were never taught the ins and outs of dealing with facial hair (aside from the near-unanimous insistence from females that we adhere to the boyish, androgynous paradigm by keeping our faces smooth and shaved like poodles). The “maintained stubble” look is really big in New York right now and most guys are, as the meme goes, “doing it wrong” because they’ve never had anyone tell them where to put their neckline. **The standard place for a beard neckline is where the jaw ends and the neck begins.** So instead of shaving anything under your jaw, you really only need to shave the hair on your neck. Doing any more than that and you’re giving yourself a chinstrap. And most guys can’t pull that off. Video Rating: 4 / 5
